Tesla Super Bottle—Trend of the future

Superbottle is a milestone innovation in the transformation of traditional coolant tanks into intelligent thermal management systems.

Tesla Superbottle, this patented technology integrates e-water pump s (two), switching valve, chiller and electronic controller. It helps Tesla fully realize its advantages of vertical integration, making full use of the waste heat of the drive motor and other components to heat the battery at low ambient temperature.

Superbottle Working Mode

Superbottle has two working modes, namely cooling mode and heating mode. 

Cooling Mode

The coolant has two paths.

In the first path, the chiller is used to cool the battery. After the coolant absorbs heat from the battery, it is pumped into the coolant tank under the action of the electronic pump. The coolant is cooled, and then the cooled coolant is returned to the battery pack under the action of the e-water pump to cool the battery again. This cycle can achieve continuous cooling of the battery.

The second path is to cool the electronic equipment by radiator. After the coolant absorbs heat from the electronic equipment and the drive unit (including the motor), it is pumped into the coolant tank under the action of the e-water pump , and heat is dissipated in the process. The coolant is cooled by the cooling device, and the cooled coolant is then returned to the electronic equipment under the action of the e-water pump to continue to cool the electronic equipment. In this way, the electronic equipment and the drive unit can be cooled by circulating operation.

Heating Mode

Under the action of the e-water pump , the coolant enters the management module to absorb the heat generated during work, and then enters the oil cooling heat exchanger of the drive unit (drive motor, etc.) to absorb the heat generated during work. The heat (Joule heat), and then flows through the chiller through the integrated valve to heat the battery.

Conclusion：

At present, most of the cooling systems of new energy vehicles have not achieved the same intelligence and integration as Tesla. But in thermal management systems, Super Bottle is a trend of the future.
